2015 PMEA District 7 Youth String Fest
What is it?
Every school year, music teachers from PMEA (Pennsylvania Music Educators Association) District 7 hold a string fest for elementary and middle school students who play violin, viola, cello or string bass. District 7 String Fest participants are among the best instrumentalists from eight Pennsylvania counties: Lancaster, Lebanon, Dauphin, Perry, Cumberland, York, Adams and Franklin. This festival, usually held during in the winter or late spring at one of the larger schools in the eight county area.
Based on musical ability and other criteria, participants are nominated to be a member of this distinguished group each fall. Students are then placed in the "Vivace" or "Allegro" String Orchestra and are expected to prepare several musical selections that are rehearsed Saturday morning and afternoon and then performed later in the day. September. A guest conductor, selected by the host, leads the festival.
About the festival.
The 2015 PMEA String Fest was held on Saturday, April 18 at the Manheim Central Middle School, 261 White Oak Road, Manheim, PA 17545. The concert began at 3:00 PM. Admission to the concert was $2 per person.
Participants from CCS for the 2015 festival include three violinists: Alexis Kohler, Olivia Gavin and Laura Ann Stauffer.
